Evolution to Edge of Chaos in NKCSW

• Optimal K value represents the edge of chaos:

  • Gas-Solid Transition occurs near K*
  • Power-Law Distribution of species changes near K*

• Selective pressure exists to drive each species toward K*

• However, the K values for each species were not under evolutionary control in the NKCSW model.

• Future work: Include K as another gene. Possibly introduce evolutionary computation instead of, or in addition to, hill climbing search.
