Rune Sætre received his MSc and PhD degrees in computer science in 2003 and 2006 respectively,
at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway,
for his work on the GeneTUC project. From 2006 to 2010 he was a BioNLP research associate at the University of Tokyo (UoT), in Prof. Jun'ichi Tsujii's lab. Rune worked with Natural Language Processing for Bio-Medical Texts (BioNLP) and collaborated with biologists to make useful real-life applications. From 2010-2014 he was working as a postdoc on the "Ubiquitous service composition for all users" (UbiCompForAll) project (with SINTEF IKT, Gintel and TellU), and in the PAtientS TrAjectories (PASTAs) project (with Department of Public Health and General Practice) at NTNU. Since 2011 Rune has been working as associate professor at IDI, teaching the introductory computer science classes IT-Intro, Java, and C++, the MSc class TDT-44 Semantic Web, and the PhD-level class DT8108 - Topics in Information Technology. Rune is currently an associate professor (førsteamanuensis) at NTNU. He has been leading the Tekna-NTNU and Akademikerne-NTNU labor unions since july 2017, with more than 4000 current members. |
